I’d be happy to help you Ryan. I also purchased cheap windshields for my car to save money and as much as possible, I try to care for them the best possible way so I don’t need to replace my windshields anytime soon. I got them online by getting quotes first. Super cheap!

Anyway, to make sure that my windshields are on their best condition, I examine them regularly to see if there are cracks or chips. As you know Ryan, chips and cracks appear in various shapes, sizes, and forms – some of these are serious which could lead to replacing your windshields. If you found a chip or crack that is coned-shape, circle-shaped, or as if stars with points are spreading out, have the windshields fixed as soon as possible. These are serious cracks which could spread and lead to bigger cracks and lead you to replace your windshields completely.

Another thing to do is to consult a professional technician if you found a crack on your windshield that is as big as a quarter or bulls-eye crack. If you think that getting self repair kits would fix those damages, forget it because trying to fix it yourself could only worsen the damage and may even lead to bigger damages.

Can I add anti-freeze to my windshield fluid?

I do recall many years ago gas stations added anti- freeze to the window cleaner. am I correct?

Cracks in windshields…?

My husband got a small crack in his windshield the other day, starting at the very edge. Every day the crack is a little longer. We were trying to find out (just in general) what causes the crack to get longer every day. Is it the heat from the sun? The cooler weather? He has slightly pushed on it, with no immediate results, but could that cause it to get longer? Just curious of your thoughts!

Not cheap anymore : ( Most windshields are part of the car strength. They are bonded to your car and take special tools to remove them so a new one can be installed. If its is a newer car with a slight tint or even an antenna in it, it might cost you over $300.00 dollars. Some repair places will even drive out to you if that's what you heed.

Just had my eyes checked and glasses replaced for nighttime driving. The glare is still pretty bad. I'm wondering if the problem is my cheap windshield and not my glasses. Thanks friend.

Crack in new windshield!!?

I just had a new windshield installed 2 days ago. I went into work and when I came out from work their was a foot long crack coming from the right side in the windshield. I took it back to glassmasters in Va Beach and they said that a rock hit it and they are not responsible for it. A rock did NOT hit my windshield and their is NO chip anywhere on the glass indicating that a rock did hit the glass. What should I do? I paid $175 for it. Is it worth small claims court?

Windshield wipers stuck running on '97 VW Passat?

I recently bought a cheap '97 VW Passat. One of the reasons it was cheap is the windshield wipers were stuck on, pulling the fuses or turning the car off was the only way to stop them. Reading similar topics on other model cars, it sounds like either the relay or the motor… just to be sure I unplugged all of the wires from the wipers lever and it still did the same thing. I ghetto rigged a toggle switch and in-line fuse from the fuse box as a temporary fix, but I would like to fix the problem so I can use adjustable speeds, intermittent ect with the lever rather than just 1 speed off a toggle switch. I am wondering how I would go about figuring out if the problem is in the relay box or the wiper motor or if its somewhere else in the system that I'm missing.
